Apple is developing a wall-mounted smart home display device that will serve as a central control hub for HomeKit accessories, according to sources familiar with the project. The device, reportedly codenamed Project Atlas, features a 10-inch touchscreen with an integrated camera for FaceTime calls and a dedicated Apple Intelligence chip for on-device processing of voice commands and home automation routines.
The product is expected to launch in early 2027 and would represent Apple's most significant push into the smart home hardware market since the original HomePod. Sources say the display will run a modified version of iPadOS optimized for ambient use and support third-party smart home protocols including Matter and Thread natively.
