Austin-based aerospace startup Skypath Aviation has closed a $400 million Series C funding round to build the first commercial autonomous air taxi network in the Dallas-Fort Worth metropolitan area. The round was led by Andreessen Horowitz and included participation from Boeing's venture arm and the Texas Teachers' Retirement Fund.

Skypath plans to deploy a fleet of 50 electric vertical takeoff and landing aircraft operating from six vertiport locations across the DFW metro by early 2028. The company has already secured FAA type certification for its four-passenger vehicle and received conditional approval for autonomous flight operations in designated corridors.

Fares are projected to start at $85 per trip, targeting a market of business travelers and commuters currently spending upwards of 90 minutes on ground transportation between key DFW destinations.
