Serve Robotics, the sidewalk delivery robot startup backed by Nvidia and Uber, has announced expansion into 15 new metropolitan areas across the United States. The company, which has been operating primarily in Los Angeles and Dallas, will launch services in cities including Denver, Atlanta, Phoenix, and Nashville by the end of the second quarter.
The expansion is supported by a new fleet of Level 4 autonomous robots capable of navigating complex urban environments including crosswalks, construction zones, and crowded pedestrian areas. Each robot can carry up to 50 pounds of cargo and operates on a fully electric platform with a range of approximately 30 miles per charge.
The growth comes as the autonomous delivery market heats up, with competitors including Starship Technologies and Amazon's Scout program also expanding their footprints. Serve Robotics reports that its existing operations have completed over 500,000 deliveries with a 98.5 percent on-time completion rate, metrics the company says have convinced restaurant and retail partners to sign on in the new markets.
