SpaceX has officially launched Starlink Direct to Cell, a satellite service that provides text, voice, and data connectivity to any standard smartphone — no special hardware needed — eliminating dead zones worldwide.

The service uses 840 specially equipped Starlink satellites in low Earth orbit. Coverage extends everywhere on Earth including oceans, mountains, and remote wilderness. This effectively ends cellular dead zones for T-Mobile customers.
