Leaked supply chain reports suggest that Apple's upcoming iPhone 18 Pro will feature under-display Face ID sensors, eliminating the Dynamic Island notch for a truly full-screen design. The device is also rumored to use a titanium-ceramic composite frame.
The under-display Face ID technology has been in development for three years, using a new infrared sensor array that can read facial features through the OLED display. Samsung achieved this first with the Galaxy S26, but Apple's implementation reportedly offers faster and more reliable authentication.
Camera upgrades include a new 48MP telephoto lens with 10x optical zoom, replacing the current 5x telephoto. The ultrawide camera moves to a 48MP sensor with macro capabilities. A new "spatial video" mode supports recording for Apple Vision Pro playback.
Battery life improvements of 15-20% are expected through a combination of the more efficient A20 Pro chip (manufactured on TSMC's 2nm process) and a larger battery enabled by more efficient internal component layout.
Pricing is expected to start at $1,199 for the iPhone 18 Pro and $1,399 for the Pro Max, maintaining current price points. The standard iPhone 18 will reportedly adopt the iPhone 17 Pro's camera system, following Apple's trickle-down strategy.
